Created and conceived in January 2008 by Publisher and Editor, Avarie Parker, SLentrepreneur Magazine is a collaborative project made possible by an international team of Second Life residents and writers devoted to covering in-world entrepreneurs and business innovations. The 2008 SLEAC Awards represents nearly a year’s worth of celebrating the best of Second Life’s entrepreneurs. In Parker’s own words: “I am very excited that SLENTRE will be honoring one of our nominated Second Life entrepreneurs as the SLentrepreneur of the Year 2008. The business men and women we chose to profile and nominate were suggested by SL residents and represent a select group of insiders that make a difference in the everyday lives of an active and vibrant SL community.”
As SLENTRE.COM News Editor and SLEAC Master of Ceremonies, Sigmund Leominster puts it: “In a year of writing for SLentrepreneur, I can honestly say that although the real world press often focuses on the trivial, salacious and more shocking elements of Second Life, the nominees we talk to have vision, strength of purpose and they add immense value to the whole SL experience. These are the real stories of Second Life and they deserve to be told.”
