Everyone in Second Life loves the idea of being unique. We often take any opportunity we can to express ourselves in ways that we might be a little hesitant to do in RL. One of the easiest ways to accomplish this is through the way we dress.

As a result, tattoos and alternative fashions such as goth, grunge, neko and punk are big business in SL. Additionally, there are several amazing designers out there who thrive in this area. Two of these fascinating designers are featured in the November issue of AVENUE Magazine.

Since 2007, Xion Hack, owner of Addixion, has been providing Second Life residents with some of the most incredible tattoos and peircings around. However, Addixion, is not just limited to the production of these amazing tattoo designs, it is also responsible for some of the most detailed goth female skins as well as grunge clothing styles for both men and women.

This strategy clearly works for him because he produces some of the most imaginative and unique punk and grunge gear on the grid.

The last of the fashion track session is on Building a Community Around your Designs – Branding, Marketing & Promotions. A two-hour mixed media panel on how to create, build and manage your fashion brand. Starting with store and logo design to maintaining the community experience around your brand. This is an ongoing discussion as maintaining a brand is a constant evolution of originality and creativity, so I’m hoping discussion on this topic can continue on the SLCC blog or in-world groups. Topics of interest: store design, logo design, blogs, flickr, twitter vs plurk, in-world groups, contests, hunts, advertising, events, and fashion shows.

Speaking on this panel will be: Harper Beresford, Asri Falcone, Rusch Raymaker, Callie Cline, Dancer Dallagio and moderated by Jesika Contepomi.

After four years, Luskwood is proud to release their newest version of the Big Cat avatars; a line that has been iconic of Luskwood’s attention to detail and visual design sense since their release in late 2005. A lot of work has gone into retaining the look and design aesthetic that originally made these avatars so popular while modernizing and polishing them; making the improvements obvious while not altering the feel of the characters behind them. In addition, several new species have been added, most notably cougars, a species that has remained noticeably rare in Second Life over the years.

The avatars will be released today – Saturday, July 18 at 7:00 PM SLT. The release party will be rounded out by DJs and live music, with avatar giveaways as prizes.

Artists, fashionistas, all sort of SLebrities and many curious Avatars all gathered yesterday in the dazzling setting of AVENUE’s sky runway to be at the AVENUE Of Life Fashionista Auction, to give theircontribution to the American Cancer Society’s RFL 2009 campaign.

The lovely Liane Martens for instance was offering herself for two hours as personal shopper, styling assistant, shape tweaking
assistant, model mentor, model and even interior designer!

The highlight of the evening was when Vixie Rayna went up the stand and started doing a hilarious robot dance. Such an uncommon skill, coupled with her dazzling beauty must have really done the trick because she got bid for the incredible amount of 40,000L$ by Dakota Neumann.

Also the charm and sense of humour of Journey McLaglen who dared the audience to a gesture war didn’t go unnoticed, as she will bestow her lovely company on the lucky Jolie Muircastle who won her for 2 hours by bidding 32,000L$. I wonder, will Journey and Jolie play like noobs for two hours and laugh lots and lots as described in her auction description? Or will Journey show Jolie a day in the life of a SL designer as Journey had also stated that she’d be willing to do?

As a fitting end to such a gala the wonderful host Jackson Vantelli and AVENUE’s gorgeous owner Rusch Raymaker both placed themselves on the auction block demonstrating to both be good sports for a great cause.

During the whole event over 200,000 L$ was raised, which will go entirely to American Cancer Association. This was a great example of a successful and entertaining event created with the sole purpose of raising awareness and helping cancer research.

AVENUE of Life will be hosting a Fashionista Auction on June 21st at 2 PM SLT , with all proceeds benefiting the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life 2009 campaign.
